Ski touring is a sport which has experienced a huge boom in recent years. It involves walking up the mountain on skis, with "skins" attached to the base of the ski, and then skiing back down off-piste through untouched powder. Those new to ski touring can also try out the sport on the piste.
The Zuckerhüttl mountain and the Oberbergtal Valley are two of the most popular areas for ski touring in the Stubai Valley. After walking up through untouched nature, skiers can admire the fabulous view from the top before whizzing back down into the valley through powder fields and past remote alpine huts.
TheFranz Senn Hütte, which has been run by our dear relative Fankhauser family for decades, opens up a true ski touring Eldorado. This alpine hut is famous as one of the best basecamps in the region for ski touring throughout the winter. All in all the mountains near the hut offer more than 18,000 vertical metres of climbing and skiing for all abilities.
Guests staying at the Stubaierhof can stay one night free of charge at the hut during the winter months.
Head for the hut!
The Franz Senn Hütte hut at 2,147 m is the perfect basecamp for ski tours in the Stubai Alps.
Talk to a member of staff in the hotel about spending a night at over 2,000 metres above sea level – a unique experience!
At the Stubaierhof we are passionate about the region we are proud to call home.
Our motto is "Hurra, die Gams!", an expression used in this part of Austria to signal joy and a love of life. We think it perfectly reflects the values and philosophy we live every day, because:
- we love the mountains,
- we appreciate our nature,
- we are down to earth.
Just like the "Gams", which is the German word for "mountain goat", we feel at home in the Alps - whatever the weather, whatever the season - and are always keen to learn more about this region and share our passion with guests at the Stubaierhof.
"Hurra, die Gams!" – Come and discover the Stubai Valley with us!
Dear guests of the Stubaierhof!
Due to current measures the Stubaierhof is closed temporarily.
However, if all goes as planned we will be able to welcome you again on 7 January. Until then your diligent hosts are working hard to implement new ideas and prepare everything for a great winter holiday at the Stubaierhof.
We are of course always available for questions and look forward to hearing from you! Until then, we wish you all the best!
Hurra die Gams!
