active holidays in a wheelchair
this is what our expert Harald says
Harald is himself a sporty wheelchair user and tests hotel businesses in Tyrol with regard to their accessibility:
"(...) The accessible parking lot is located directly next to the barrier-free entrance, which leads through the ski room to the lower floor and from there via the elevator to the reception.
The wellness area is equipped with several add-on ramps, which makes the indoor pool as well as the attractive sauna area easily accessible for sporty wheelchair users.
The accessible room is very spacious, has a balcony and a large, barrier-free bathroom with a shower. When required, up to 4 persons can use this spacious suite. One side of the bed is accessible for wheelchair users. Further, there are also other rooms with a bathtub, which are not explicitly barrier-free but well accessible for sporty wheelchair users.
In our hotel, we predominantly cook with regional products, dietary requirements can be considered.
The Stubaierhof is a hotel very suitable for sporty wheelchair users and located on the way to the accessible Stubai Glacier skiing area. The surrounding mountains are sensational, there are numerous opportunities to go for a walk, and even cross-country sledding is possible. In Telfes, a village not far from Neustift, a huge modern spa area can be found at the ‘Stubay’. Unfortunately, the hotel is not as suitable for electric wheelchair users; in this case it is best to contact the reception directly.”
